Ranstead Room is bar/speakeasy that's behind a nondescript door with solid cocktails and shares space adjacent to El Rey and is also part of the Stephen Starr empire of restaurants in Philadelphia.  The space isn't large but is good for intimate outings over cocktails.

With the weather warming up in Philadelphia, venues for happy hour that have outdoor seating are in high demand.  Unfortunately, they can get quite crowded.  One place that I sometimes forget about is Continental.  They have a nice selection of happy hour drinks and snacks with a very reasonable price point during happy hour featuring discounted cocktails and plates.

Fette Sau (Northern Liberties Philadelphia, PA)

For anyone in the mood for bbq meats by the pound, a generous whisky selection along with beers and cocktails, Fette Sau in Northern Liberties is a must.  A Starr restaurant that is in partnership with the group that established the original Fette Sau in Williamsburg Brooklyn NY, fette sau offers a fun ambiance and bbq orders by the pound.  The side dishes are also quite delicious.  I would not recommend Fette Sau for vegetarians.  All meats and sides are recommended but I have a particular fondness for the fatty beef brisket, the pork belly, and the beef short rib.
