Brunch at Figs (Fairmount) then Union Game 2014-10-11

Figs
2501 Meredith Street
Philadelphia, PA 19130

Brunch at Figs is BYOB.  I highly recommend bringing some champagne for bruncb.  The food as usual is very good.

Later that day I went to my first Philadelphia Union game.  The burger at the stadium was actually quite delicious and a great value for Stadium food.

La Viola Bistro (East) 2013-11-16

La Viola East (Bistro)
253 16th St
Philadelphia, PA 19102
Phone: 215-735-8630
Web: laviolaphiladelphia.com

With the Philadelphia marathon this weekend, I hosted a few out of town friends.  There was a simple request for dinner.  Italian restaurant that offers a risotto dish.  With a party of 9, La Viola accommodated my reservation request with about a week's notice.

The venue is intimate and small.  This resulted in not being able to seat us until around 7:40.  Luckily there was space for us to stand and wait and begin our byo-ing in advance.  As it is a BYO expect the restaurant ambiance to be a bit more raucous and loud.  The clientele also trends a bit on the younger side.  Don't be surprised to see byo boxed wine (Franzia)

La Locanda Del Ghiottone is a small, intimate, Italian restaurant located in Old City that is also a BYOB.  We had a large party for celebrating and they were very accommodating.  The waiter brought energy and flair to the occasion.

Bellini Grill (Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia, PA)

Bellini Grill (Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia, PA)

With a large crowd for dinner, it can get tricky trying to plan a dinner.  Bellini Grill is good for large groups and is BYOB/BYOW/BYO(insert alcohol), the only downside is that it can be a bit hectic, a tad crowded, and the timing is never as exact as you would hope.  Other the other hand, for this evening's review, I was in attendance with a party of 22 people.   This is extremely difficult to pull off in center city.  As such, if you have a large group and temper your expectations, it's doable.

Food is decent and they offered the standard restaurant week fare with a bevy of selections.
