Beer Garden Opening at the Oval (Fairmount, PA) 2014-07-16
The Oval in Fairmount at the Art Museum is once again open for the summer.
I managed to make it to the first day the beer garden and the oval opened.
Food trucks were also present.

Eakins Oval (Art Museum Philadelphia, PA)
Eakins Oval
Philadelphia Museum of Art - Eakins Oval
Eakins Oval
26th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Philadelphia, PA 19130
Over the summer between July 17 and August 20th, Philadelphia transformed Eakins Oval into a community space. What was normally a parking lot functioned as pedestrian-friendly turf with a stage, benches, food trucks, lawn seating, sand and lawn. On Thursdays, there was a pop up beer garden to go along with the food trucks. I was mostly interested in the pop up beer garden and finally made it out there on a Thursday after work.
It was very relaxing to sit out on the parkway with beers and take in the area after a long work day. I think Philadelphia Parks and Recreation has succeeded in brightening up the area over the summer while getting a better use out of the space.
