Parson's Chicken & Fish embraces drinking, eating, good times and is a great outdoor venue.
With some free time, I had the opportunity to check out the patio at Parson's Chicken and Fish and sampled Parson's Beer, the original Negroni Slushy, along with some other libations.  This venue definitely captures the energy and essence of a great summer patio.

Le Bok Fin (Pop Up Rooftop) 2015-08-15

Le Bok Fin (Pop Up Rooftop) 2015-08-15
1901 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19148

This summer there was a pop up rooftop bar called Le Bok Fin that borrowed the Edward Bok Technical High School which has been closed for years.  The concept offered casual dining and beverages with a pleasant rooftop view of Philadelphia.  It was definitely a nice use of a shuttered location.

Eakins Oval (Art Museum Philadelphia, PA)

Over the summer between July 17 and August 20th, Philadelphia transformed Eakins Oval into a community space.  What was normally a parking lot functioned as pedestrian-friendly turf with a stage, benches, food trucks, lawn seating, sand and lawn.  On Thursdays, there was a pop up beer garden to go along with the food trucks.  I was mostly interested in the pop up beer garden and finally made it out there on a Thursday after work.

It was very relaxing to sit out on the parkway with beers and take in the area after a long work day.  I think Philadelphia Parks and Recreation has succeeded in brightening up the area over the summer while getting a better use out of the space.
