Federal Donuts always offers a wide selection of interesting and delicious donuts.  We had heard that they were staying open for students suffering through finals and stopped by the University City location to discover to our dismay that they were already closed and the online posting we had read was incorrect.

Heart-broken, we lucked out as the employee closing up the shop opened the door and surprised us with various donuts.  Cheers to Federal Donuts and their generosity.

Pats and Genos is a bit of a tourist trap.  Ok, its totally a tourist trap.  When out of towners pass through Philadelphia it is a bit of a mandatory stop.  There is something fun about the neon signs, the plethora of bodies and of course cheesesteaks late at night.  As much as the foodie in me tries to deny it, it is definitely a part of the Philadelphia experience.  Not necessarily a high class fine dining event but immensely enjoyable nonetheless.

Underdogs serves hotdogs and sausages.  It reminds me of Spikes Junkyard Dogs in New England around the Rhode Island/Massachussets areas.  Key differences are the bread used.  Underdogs uses more of a standard hotdog bun as opposed to Spikes.  Its closer to CriffDogs in New York City.  Where it differentiates itself is in the use of other meats for sausages.  As a result the menu is a little more varied.  As such, venues like this are the perfect late night spot to visit to conclude an evening out and about.
